Fractional CO2 laser
Fractional laser resurfacing or fractional resurfacing is an innovative method of non-surgical skin lifting and improvement of all its structures, which allows you to get a pronounced rejuvenating effect even in one procedure. The impact is based on the DOT technology - dermal optical thermolysis, that is, strictly dosed point evaporation of tissues to a given depth. Fractional laser resurfacing can be effectively performed on any skin type and achieve the desired results.
How is the procedure
Before the procedure, it is necessary to consult a specialist to determine the condition of the skin, the presence of indications, contraindications and to draw up a plan for possible preparation. For 2 weeks it is not recommended to carry out chemical peels and sunbathe
The procedure takes place on an outpatient basis, using a local anesthetic cream. The duration of fractional rejuvenation depends on the treated area and takes an average of 30 to 60 minutes. After the procedure, the specialist explains in detail how to care for the skin after laser resurfacing. Rehabilitation takes from 7 to 14 days and depends on the problem being solved.
Working Principle of CO2 Fractional Laser
The operation of the laser on the skin occurs according to the principle of thermo-optical exposure (thermal effect, thermocoagulation, thermal ablation and superthermal ablation). The French CO2 laser refers to thermal ablation.
- 1thermal effect
Collagen can exist in two structures: triple helix and random curl. It can also switch between the two structures. When the temperature rises to 60-65 degrees, the collagen fibers shrink to one third (1/3) of their original length and the diameter of the collagen immediately increases, and the integrity of the corresponding tissue structure is not disturbed.
- 2Thermocoagulation
When the temperature in the skin reaches 75 degrees and enough time,traumatization of tissues occurs. Collagen begins to harden. In this condition, collagen clotting is different from collagen contraction, cells and surrounding tissues become inactive and inflammation occurs, which stimulates the wound healing mechanism in our skin. This, in turn, will stimulate the fibroblast to release more new collagen in order to get the result of skin repair and rejuvenation. This is how many new collagen fibers increase in the skin, instead of the old ones, and the basic structure of the dermis improves. The layer of our dermal mesh is the frame structure of the skin, and after its improvement, we get the effect of face correction, wrinkle removal, delicate, smooth skin, even complexion, pronounced lifting.
- 3Thermal ablation
When the temperature reaches 300 degrees, gasification will occur in the tissues and the molecular structure will also be disturbed. All this injures the skin to a large extent. When thermal ablation occurs, thermal coagulation and thermal effects occur in the surrounding skin and tissue. This means that the fractional laser brings three thermo-optical effects to the skin. The combined use of such a combination will lead to better results.
- 4Superthermal ablation
Occurrence conditions:Temperature above 300℃.
How does fractional CO2 laser work on our skin?
The CO2 laser works with a long wave beam - 10600 nanometers. This wavelength is absorbed by water in the skin (by the way, the target of the laser is water in the tissues, so if you want to get the best result, you can do gas-liquid peeling before CO2 treatment) and penetrates to the dermis, there are many microchannels inside the skin. And around the microchannel there is a certain thermal coagulation and a massive thermal effect. The CO2 laser creates microchannels in the skin with a diameter of about 0.12 mm and a depth of about 2-4 mm (the thickness of the dermis in the skin is 0.5-4 mm).
With the help of thermal ablation, you can: firstly, you can remove pigmentation and blood vessels on the surface of the skin. Second, create micro-channels inside the skin up to the dermis. This will greatly improve the absorption of the skin. Normally, our skin has a barrier function (sebum secretion function) to protect the skin from harmful environmental factors. Therefore, when we use cosmetics on normal skin, it can only absorb 3% of nutrients. But with the help of micro-sealers after the CO2 treatment, our skin absorbs cosmetics well and increases the absorption coefficient to 99%. Here we recommend the use of reliable and effective professional cosmetics.
Indications for the use of laser resurfacing:
- 1For acne treatment.
Reducing the production of sebaceous sebum, stimulating the formation of collagen, smoothing out irregularities on the skin surface, solving problems with post-acne.
- 2For skin rejuvenation.
Why do people get old?
Age-related changes begin as early as 25 years, depending on heredity. Due to the slowdown in cell renewal, the stratum corneum thickens. Collagen and elastin fibers that support the framework of our skin change. They become thinner, coarser, stretched and no longer perform their function as well as before. “Holes” appear in the protective hydrolipidic layer, it retains natural moisture in the skin worse. Substances necessary for the skin (collagen, hyaluronic acid, lipids) are no longer produced as quickly as before, but at the same time they are consumed faster. The protective functions of the skin weaken, it becomes more and more difficult for it to resist aggressive environmental factors.
- 3Correction of wrinkles and stretch marks on the body and face.
- 4For grinding various types of scars.
The exact number of procedures is strictly individual and depends on the depth of the affected tissue and the age of the scar.
- 5For rejuvenation of intimate areas.
Many women are unhappy with the condition of their genitals, the stretching of the vaginal muscles and the relaxation of the urethra. All these processes are quite natural, although there are factors that exacerbate these problems - childbirth, gynecological operations, hard work, inflammatory diseases. Modern laser technology makes it possible to cope with these ailments, or at least reduce them to a minimum.
This is a non-invasive medical procedure aimed at plastic surgery of the genital organs. Manipulation is not an operation, is not associated with pain, lasts from 15 to 30 minutes and solves problems of a physiological and aesthetic nature.
- 6Pigmentation removal, skin lightening.
- 7Removing the problem of enlarged pores.
- 8Loss of skin elasticity.
- 9Rejuvenation of the mammary glands.
- 10Baldness treatment.
After creating microchannels on the scalp, moisturizing is carried out, thus the absorption coefficient increases and the client receives the result of nourishing the hair follicles. But you need to pay attention to the fact that this option is only suitable for places where there is a hair follicle.
Contraindications:
- pregnancy, lactation;
- tendency to form keloid scars;
- exacerbation of chronic infections;
- autoimmune diseases;
- any rashes at the site of laser exposure;
- dry, dehydrated skin;
- oncological diseases;
- blood clotting disorder;
- mental disorders;
- Tan;
- diabetes.
What modes are there on a fractional CO2 laser:
CO2 laser has 4 modes:
- 1Continuous mode, moles and warts can be removed.
The continuous beam of the laser works constantly without an interval. It looks like a laser knife. Removes various growths, tissue growth, tumors, warts and moles.
This mode can be used by qualified cosmetologists, dermatologists, venereologists and surgeons.
- 2Ultrapulse mode, the functions are the same as those of the continuous mode. Suitable for beginners.
- 3Fractional Mode
You can choose different patterns, shapes, for more convenient processing of large volumes of correction and selection of an individual pattern of a fractional grid.
- 4Intimate mode - narrowing of the vagina, intimate rejuvenation, whitening of the skin of the large and small labia.
What to consider and what to look for when choosing a CO2 machine
What laser source does it have, scanner, handpiece and power 30 W or 60 W.
The most important: you need to choose CO2 with a metal source inside, and not with a glass one. A CO2 machine with a glass tube source is much cheaper and this is its only advantage.
Why can't CO2 be used with a glass tube.
- 5The photo shows the depth of ablation. The beam coming out of fractional CO2 with a glass source on each gap of the skin of different depths. And the beam from fractional CO2 with a metal source at each interval is stable and uniform! It is very important to remember that this affects the effect of the procedure as a whole. After the CO2 glass tube treatment, there is more inflammation and the effect is not uniform. The output power of CO2 laser with metal source is more stable and uniform.
- 6Photo 2 shows how long each of them has. The service life of fractional CO2 with a glass tube is only six months to a year. So you can only work a few thousand hours. The term of fractional CO2 with a Chinese-made metal source is from 5 years, which is almost tens of thousands of hours. And with a US-made metal source, the device can be used for more than 10 years. Longer life means this machine can serve more customers and also bring you three times your income without constant depreciation.
- 7The loss of CO2 output energy with a metal source is much less than with a glass source. Its energy immediately weakens from the moment of use. That is why the life of a glass source will be much shorter than that of a metal one.
- 8In this photo 3, you can see that the exit points from the fractional CO2 with glass tube are uneven. This affects the uniformity of exposure and, accordingly, the result of the procedure. And for fractional CO2 with a metal source, the points of action on the skin are even, uniform, and therefore the effect of the procedure will be much better.
- 9It is convenient to transport the device only with a metal source. Glass is fragile and may be damaged in transit.
- 10In the apparatus with a metal source, it is not necessary to add water, in contrast to the apparatus with a glass source. First, equipment without water is definitely more stable than equipment with water. Secondly, each instrument requires a quality check before shipping. After quality inspection, it cannot be guaranteed that the water in the glass tube will be completely drained, and the weather cold glass tube may freeze and crack during transportation.
- 11The glass tube needs to be replaced every year. Its cost is very high, which is an extra expense for salons. The metal source does not require replacement.

What happens after the procedure:
After preparing the skin for the procedure and taking into account all the necessary actions, the cosmetologist performs the procedure. On average, the procedure on the face lasts 15-20 minutes. The whole process is a bit like acupuncture. Therefore, after the fractional rejuvenation procedure, the cosmetologist should prescribe competent home care to the client in order to reduce discomfort. Most people feel a burning sensation within 24 hours after the procedure. Discomfort in the treatment area may be 3-5 days. After the fractional rejuvenation procedure, we recommend taking a course of gas-liquid peeling to moisturize the skin and saturate it with oxygen.
